The terms describe different kinds of value

Creator, influencer, KOL, UGC talent, and model are often used interchangeably, but they describe different strengths. A campaign may need one role or a combination.

Content creators

Content creators are usually selected for their ability to develop and produce material suited to a platform or brand. Their value may come from concept, production style, presentation, or subject expertise rather than distribution alone.

Influencers and KOLs

Influencers provide access to an audience that follows their content or personality. KOLs are normally selected for authority or credibility within a subject or community. The distinction is useful when trust and expertise matter more than broad awareness.

UGC talent and models

UGC talent creates brand-owned content that feels native to social platforms; the work does not always need to be distributed to the talent’s own audience. Models are selected primarily for visual performance within campaign, catalogue, editorial, runway, or commercial production.

Choose from the campaign requirement

Choose a creator when production and storytelling are central, an influencer when distribution matters, a KOL when specialist credibility is essential, UGC talent for brand-owned social assets, and a model for visual or performance-led production.

Review the person’s actual work before relying on the label used in a biography.
